PRO TIP: Skin First
Your skin is the foundation of every look, so skin prep is crucial. Make sure that you’re using the best moisturizers and primers for your skin type and skin concerns. That being said, try to give your self time try new skincare products and treatments. We’d advise not to try anything new the week or two before your wedding, so you can avoid any adverse reactions you’ll have to cover.

PRO TIP: Trial Runs are Essential
Whether you’re doing your makeup yourself or hiring a makeup artist for you wedding day, trial runs are a must. New products may irritate your skin or be a bad color match so it’s best to make sure you can do a long wear test of the look before your wedding so you know that it’s foolproof. You also want to make sure you feel comfortable in your wedding day makeup style, especially if it’s something new or different than your usual style. Smokey eyes are gorgeous, but if you’ve never tried one before you may be overwhelmed wearing one on the photographed day of your life.

PRO TIP: Bring Backup
No matter how long lasting your makeup is, your wedding day will really put it through the ringer, but there’s a fix for that! Keep an emergency kit packed with blotting sheets, the lipstick, lash glue, makeup wipes, and setting powder for easy access. Fingers crossed you won’t need, but you don’t want to be caught without it. And if you’re willing to pay a little more, many makeup artists will charge an hourly rate to stick around to

PRO TIP: Make sure you’re waterproofed.
Tears and sweat happen, so make sure you’re prepared! The makeup market is flooded with waterproof mascaras and face powders you should consider picking up. You’ll most definitely break a sweat, that’s a given so plan for that. But, even if you’re not typically a crier do yourself a favor and invest in a good waterproof. It’ll be a pain to get off later that night, which is a gift and curse.

PRO TIP: More is more…sort of.
Makeup photographs differently than it looks in person. That mean that even all done up, pictures may not do your makeup look justice. Taking that into consideration, it may be in your best interest to go a little heavier than you typically would. Of course, if you don’t feel comfortable doing that, then don’t do it. This is your day you should feel your best and most confident!
