Creating a wedding day style is many bride’s favorite parts of the wedding planning process. Putting together mood boards and thinking up color schemes to fit your aesthetic and unique sense of style is exciting. But, one of the biggest parts of your wedding day aesthetic is you! Your dress, hair, and even accessories will come together to create create a look you love and your wedding makeup will be the icing on that oh so fabulous cake.

Although this is one of the more fun to-do’s on your list, it can be a little daunting to choose a bridal makeup look you love, and there’s certainly no shortage of makeup styles out there. There are a few things that might help you decide:

  • What season are you getting married? Fall and Winter weddings typically feature darker lip and eye shadow colors.

  • What’s your wedding venue? Outdoor or Beach weddings tend to lean more neutral glam.

  • What kind of dress are you wearing? Classic, princess gowns pair nicely with blushy cheeks and pink/berry-toned lips.

  • Or do something totally out of the box, it’s your wedding!

To make your bridal style search a little easier, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite Celebrate Dallas brides and their gorgeous wedding day makeup looks, plus five tips to make sure your look goes off without a hitch. Let the glam begin!

PRO TIP: Skin First

Your skin is the foundation of every look, so skin prep is crucial. Make sure that you’re using the best moisturizers and primers for your skin type and skin concerns. That being said, try to give your self time try new skincare products and treatments. We’d advise not to try anything new the week or two before your wedding, so you can avoid any adverse reactions you’ll have to cover.

PRO TIP: Trial Runs are Essential

Whether you’re doing your makeup yourself or hiring a makeup artist for you wedding day, trial runs are a must. New products may irritate your skin or be a bad color match so it’s best to make sure you can do a long wear test of the look before your wedding so you know that it’s foolproof. You also want to make sure you feel comfortable in your wedding day makeup style, especially if it’s something new or different than your usual style. Smokey eyes are gorgeous, but if you’ve never tried one before you may be overwhelmed wearing one on the photographed day of your life.

PRO TIP: Bring Backup

No matter how long lasting your makeup is, your wedding day will really put it through the ringer, but there’s a fix for that! Keep an emergency kit packed with blotting sheets, the lipstick, lash glue, makeup wipes, and setting powder for easy access. Fingers crossed you won’t need, but you don’t want to be caught without it. And if you’re willing to pay a little more, many makeup artists will charge an hourly rate to stick around to

PRO TIP: Make sure you’re waterproofed.

Tears and sweat happen, so make sure you’re prepared! The makeup market is flooded with waterproof mascaras and face powders you should consider picking up. You’ll most definitely break a sweat, that’s a given so plan for that. But, even if you’re not typically a crier do yourself a favor and invest in a good waterproof. It’ll be a pain to get off later that night, which is a gift and curse.

PRO TIP: More is more…sort of.

Makeup photographs differently than it looks in person. That mean that even all done up, pictures may not do your makeup look justice. Taking that into consideration, it may be in your best interest to go a little heavier than you typically would. Of course, if you don’t feel comfortable doing that, then don’t do it. This is your day you should feel your best and most confident!

MEET THE TEAM | #CCGIRLGANG

OF COURSE, WE ADORE THE PRETTY LITTLE DETAILS AND A GOOD DANCE PARTY, BUT OUR OBSESSIONS GOES A LITTLE BEYOND THAT.

We love the logistics that make an event run smoothly. We love the high of seeing a party that has been months (maybe years) in the making finally come together. And most importantly, we love the idea of two people deciding on forever. Yeah, we're totally down with that.

We are also of the belief that you only need three things to have a wedding: a loving partner, an officiant, and some special people to witness. That. is. it. Once you've got those, everything else is just icing on the cake. (If you even want a cake! Personally, we'd never turn down a wedding pie or donut!)

We're not out to sell you a bunch of junk you don't need or push our style down your throat. We will be your biggest advocates, your sounding board, and your first line of defense against any stress and craziness. Because you deserve to be fully present on your wedding day.

Basically, our aim is to help you throw a kick-ass party that feels like you and have fun in the process.

RACHAEL + BLAKE | THE WHITE SPARROW

To be honest, I didn't quite realize how behind on posting our work we were until I came across this stunning gallery from LAST OCTOBER and my mind was blown. Don't you fret, we're pulling photos and googling synonyms for "happy" like mad over here!

Rachel + Blake tied the knot last year at one of our favorite venues in Texas, The White Sparrow. This gem of a venue is situated in Quinlan Texas and some people question if it's worth the 40 minute drive from downtown Dallas. Trust us, it totally is! Give Marissa a call and schedule a tour, you will not be disappointed! A member of the Celebrate Dallas team will even be having her wedding there next year!

Now back to our #marriedfacemonday couple and their stunningly rustic wedding day. October usually marks the beginning of fall in Texas and the weather did not disappoint. With the perfectly overcast lighting and our favorite backdrop, there's just so much to love about this day! We paired dark wooden accents with soft neutral blooms and subtle pops of pink. The men were styled in dark navy suits with pale pink ties, while the maids dazzled in various shades of dusty rose and creamy ivory.

One of Rachael's absolute must-haves was a pair of teal velvet chairs from Beautiful Event Rentals she'd spotted on a blog feature of our Autumnal Boho Editorial. Those bold chairs became the focal point of our entire design, playing the vital role of dinner seating. Family was also a huge inspiration to the couple when it came to their wedding day. The date was specifically chosen as a nod to Rachael's parents, who also wed on the first weekend of October. Their officiant was a close family friend who spoke beautifully of their love and a table that once belonged to Rachael's grandmother, held their unity candle and bible during the ceremony.

After an epic dance party on the patio under the stars and twinkle lights, guests ventured to the front of the barn to witness a spectacular SURPRISE firework display put on by the venue. One of our first firework displays, and it did not disappoint! Check out the footage in the highlight video below! Extra big thank you's to our photographer, Adria Lea and our videography team from Joy Neville Photography + Films

BLOOM COLORFULLY | NO. 03

Hi friends! Happy Wednesday!

Today, we are so excited to start a new series based around all of our pretty pretty blooms!

One of the common dilemmas our flower brides usually have when we meet for the first time is finding a photo of a bouquet or centerpiece and loving it, but having no idea what flowers were used to create the design!

Well, fear not, because we are going to start breaking down the ingredients used in our arrangements! This will be the perfect tool to take with you when planning your wedding color palette or floral must-have list!

We're kicking things off today with these crazy cool, color-filled arrangements we designed for the TOPSHOP x rewardStyle lunch from April's rewardStyle conference, #rStheCon! We had so much fun ordering ALL. THE. COLORS. for this event and you are going to love seeing all the happy flowers we used to create them!

CAROLINA + PAUL | THE CARLISLE ROOM

Yay! It's #MarriedFaceMonday!

We are beyond excited to share this wedding with everyone! Carolina and Paul's wedding was our first of 2017 and every detail so thoughtfully chosen and every moment so full of love!

These two tied the knot in The Carlisle Room in downtown Dallas. This venue is such a cool space with some super cool art deco inspired features. Carolina envisioned tons of creamy blooms, muted greenery, and lots of elegant details.

Our favorite moment of the day was seeing everyone get down on the dance floor! Seriously, this crowd knew how to party and oh man! it was so fun to see! Also, we have to mention the pie bar! Caroline and Paul swapped traditional cake for a delicious mix of pies from Emporium! It was the perfect sweet end to a winter-y evening!

We love how perfectly photographer, Jillian Zamora, captured every moment! Scroll down for the full gallery and vendor team below!
