The Pantone Color of the Year dropped last week and we want to talk about it! Last Wednesday we waited with bated breath on Pantone's Instagram post announcing 2020s Color of the Year. They teased a few snaps of a gorgeous sunset and we were convinced that the COTY might be an Orange Blossom, a Ruby Red, or Bold Fuchsia so when Classic Blue was announced we were a little… underwhelmed. Blue is a beautiful color both in and outside of wedding design, but being lovers or all things extra we expected something a little more dynamic. I headed over the Pantone's blog for more insight on the choice. They described Classic Blue as:
Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.
- Pantone
And that's when we got it; calm, confident, and dependable though not always top of mind when dreaming up wedding color palettes, are some of the most important components to planning a wedding and a life with your boo. While going through our gorgeous wedding archives, we found so many past weddings that'd used blue to compliment their wedding style. Each exuded elegance, style, and understated beauty. Classic Blue, it took us a second, but we're into you.
If you’re into Classic Blue too, we’ve put together a few complementary color palettes plus inspiration from some of our own wedding’s Classic Blue moments. Enjoy!

Wedding neon signs are all the rage and we’re fully on board with this trend! Not only do neon signs provide some eye-catching and moody lighting, but they’re also a way to make a statement in a big and beautiful way. Neon signs can be focal points in ceremony or reception spaces and can double as DIY photo booth areas (just add props).
Worried, they might not work with your wedding day aesthetic? Neon signs can be customized to nearly any wedding style; the color, script, and size are up to you. These vibrant signs can be custom made (YouTube is full of tutorials of varying difficulty) or specially designed for your wedding day. If you really want to get your money’s worth, they can double as a major conversation starter in the middle of your living room when it’s all over. Whatever way you slice it neon signs are accessible, stunning, and a contemporary way to show your personality. These are our Top 5 Neon Sign Moments!

As classic and beautiful as matching breezy bridesmaid dresses can be, a bride who puts a twist on tradition makes for an exciting change. Bridesmaids dresses have had their fair share of…questionable moments, but thankfully bridesmaid style is evolving. Long gone are the days of puffy sleeves, mega bows, and ruching; 2019 is all about your bridesmaids looking and feeling their best by your side.
Some brides give their crew free rein as long as they stick within a particular color palette. Others tailor their criteria a little more but still keep in mind the shapes, sizes, and tastes of their girl gang. Either way, trying something different can have some super dreamy payoffs. And as a bonus, bridesmaids are more likely to wear the outfit again!
Be it jumpsuits, sexy satin, or whimsical ruffles, whatever your bridesmaid style is, we've found something that'll fit you (we hope!). Here's some inspo from a few of our favorite stylish and unconventional bridal parties!
Suited Up
Groomsmen aren’t the only ones who can look dashing in a tailored suit. Forget traditional gender norms and suit up your bridesmaids in this fierce girl group look.
Silky Separates
Off the shoulder! Peasant tops! V necks! Separates are a fun way to mix and match a unique bridesmaid look.
Shades of Green (Or Whatever Color Your Heart Desires)
Go the semi-traditional route and give your bridal party a color scheme to work with — that way, each person can pick a dress that best fits them best.
Offbeat Jumpsuits
Try something entirely outside of the box with a jumpsuit! You’re sure to turn heads and they’re perfect for dropping it low on the dance floor.
Ruffled and Whimsical
Throw caution to the wind with something whimsical and bright. Although these dresses on their own don’t scream bridesmaid, together, they work for an eccentric and colorful affair.
Mismatched Styles
Complementary colors are a great way to match without matching. Each dress can have it’s own distinct style and color, but when they come together they won’t clash.
Bright and Color Blocked
With color-blocked bridesmaids, there’s no such thing as colors not matching, especially when they’re the pops of color in an otherwise sleek and minimalist ceremony.
A Satin Moment
Who says bridesmaids can’t be a little sexy? I’m all for something a little extra saucy and satin walking down the aisle!
Bridesmaids in White
White isn’t just for brides anymore. There’s something super modern and stylish about all-white bridesmaid moment.
Glitzy and Glam
Some might say a glitzy gown pulls focus from the bride, but I say a little sequin magic never hurt anyone. Plus, on your wedding day, no amount of glitter is going to stop your friends and family from being all heart-eyed over you and your new spouse.
Here’s to all of my non-traditional couples! Generally, when people think of weddings, they think bright colors, white dresses, and gold or silver flatware. But we’ve been loving the growing trend of adding matte black elements into a wedding. Weddings with hints of black don’t have to always be dark and edgy. By adding touches of light and soft florals can really create a modern and sophisticated vibe. Whether you’re vibe is dark and dreamy, modern and sophisticated, or boho and trendy, these beautiful photos are just the inspiration you need!
We’re pretty much obsessed with adding matte black to all things wedding. What are your thoughts on the matter?
